PHONOMETRIC-VIBRATIONAL MEASUREMENTS

The Acoustic Impact Assessment is a procedure required by the competent parties responsible for the projects or works. Is involves the construction, modification or upgrading of structures that see the installation of noisy machinery or systems.

The purpose of sound and vibration measurements is to precisely determine a standard criterion for sound and vibration analysis tests within environments.

Instrumentation used for sound

  • Sound level meter with full or third-octave filter and acoustic calibrator.
  • Real-time spectral analysis for octave bands and acoustic calibrator.

Instrumentation used for vibration

  • Sound level meter with octave and third-octave filters, a sound level meter and an
    accelerometer.
  • FFT narrow band spectral analyser and input capability for an accelerometer.
  • Vibration meter and an accelerometer.
  • Spectrum analyser and an accelerometer.

HVAC systems and other mechanical and electrical equipment are often the main sources of noise in many indoor spaces.
When designing HVAC systems and other types of building services, it is necessary to quantify and assess whether the noise within indoor environment is acceptable.
